We all are sadly aware that Betsey Johnson is going out of business (included some information in formal posts) but what some of us may not be aware of, is the majority of Betsey’s retail stores are leaving us as of June (beginning of June is tomorrow, yikes!) So I wanted to commemorate Betsey with a photo of herself in her showroom and her very last fashion show at NYFW. Also, all you Vancouverites better stock up on Betsey right away as her Vancouver location (Alberni st) is closing down as of June 9th. All prices reduced, even the outlet stores. If you have picked up some Betsey finds please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below with what you found or tweet us at @ktysire with the topic #buybuybetsey
Betsey Johnson is one of the most inspiring and iconic fashion designers of our time, she has interned and worked with some of the most influentially fashionable people such as Edie Sedgwick and also became apart of Andy Warhol’s underground scene. She developed her fashion line in 1978 and since than has continued to bring us some of the best unique designs with over 68 stores worldwide. She is in the Fashion Walk of Fame and has expanded her collection by including accessories, handbags, hats and scarves. She has survived through breast cancer and has been known to perform cartwheels at the end of her fashion shows in Bryant Park. She will continue designing her moderately priced clothing line and further her accessory collection.

I loved her line and saw the beginning stages of this developing months earlier when visiting a friend in Boston–we stopped by a Betsey Johnson store and they were having a massive sale. Thing was, it was the wrong time of year for markdowns. I am really sad to see her stores go.

I know, we are very sad to see her disappear, but at least she will still be designing her accessory line and moderately-priced line, hopefully anyway!
