What To Wear | To A Fashion Interview

This is the age-old dilemma; what to wear to a fashion interview without compromising your personal style. With much research done, I have selected pieces that pop with regards to trends and basics. Always go for a closed-toe shoe option, sling backs create a longer seeming leg, and accentuate your ankles. Opt for a pair of tapered trousers for that ‘chic’ streamlined affect. Pair these stand-out pants with a basic cream blouse, add some rose pink lipstick and minimal jewellery if you want.
If you are in the mood to wear a dress, go for a longer length, add tights if you feel its necessary and make sure the neckline isn’t too low for obvious reasons. Choose a pointed toe pump in a neutral shade, when buying shoes of interviews, opt for neutral colours so you can work them into your already existing wardrobe. Bring a bigger bag to keep all of your important documents in, leave the briefcase at home and don’t be afraid to pick a purse in a bright tone for that pop in your ensemble.
Dont be afraid to play with colour, in moderation of course. Being involved in a creative field such as fashion allows for much more independence when it comes to styling your outfits. If you are going for a mod black and white look, than spice up your ensemble with a trendy pair of tangerine orange pumps, some turquoise accessories and a funky cross body bag. With skirts, make sure your hemline isn’t too short and revealing, feel free to tuck your blouses in or wear them out. When choosing blazers, go for a different colour than your skirt to avoid appearing too ‘corporate business’ like unless of course if thats the look you are going for.
When trying to choose your outfits, do your research, scope out what the other employees/interns are wearing and devise your outfit based on that and your own style personality. Have fun with your look, play around with stripes and patterns and don’t be afraid to mix it up. Good luck and hope this helped.
