Updating your wardrobe is something you should do every few months, but I know it can be tough to commit that kind of time into your schedule. I understand because I am a busy 9-5er myself;I know how it is, you pick your clothes out the night before, sure, but are you really wearing what you want to be wearing? You know how there are those clothes that you just seem to gravitate towards? For me, those are my blazers, joggers, camisoles, leather jacket… you get the picture. With that said and with the new season upon us, it’s important to refresh your space and make it new again. Just because you want to clear your closet doesn’t mean you can’t spend a few bucks on some ‘new’ things too.I know what you’re thinking: but if I get rid of my older pieces, I will feel guilty for spending money when I could have just reused what I’ve already got. I hear you there; that is why I am showing you some ways to rework your existing wardrobe and spend a few bucks on a couple new pieces for the summer.I found a few great new things from Value Village; it’s amazing how it opened my eyes when I cleared out my closet before going on a mini shopping spree. I got rid of bright clothes that are just not me anymore; I don’t typically wear out-there prints or bright pieces. Even though they are seasonal, they’re just not who I am and I want to demonstrate my style without breaking the budget. Because I got rid of some pieces I no longer wear, I was free to style a few things from Value Village without feeling guilty.A few of the pieces I was able to donate at Value Village. It’s important to go for basics when you’re updating your closet. Even though you may think you already have tons, there are pieces that you can find at Value Village that you didn’t even realize were missing from your closet. Value Village has everything you need to help update your wardrobe, living room, kitchen and bookshelves. I love shopping here because it always feels like a treasure hunt to me; you never know what you’re going to find and every single time I go there I almost always leave with more than two things. It’s an adventure going somewhere with so much to offer, it’s fun to sift through older and newer pieces because your imagination comes out when trying to figure out what to style.A couple of the pieces that I picked up are not only basic, but also trendy as of late too. I picked up a gorgeous gingham blouse with floral print on the collar and we all know mixing prints is a thing right now, so that was a huge score. I also picked up a great black fringe bag, which is perfect timing because the bag I am currently using is getting a bit worn out. I grabbed a sleek, streamlined blouse too, because the one I got rid of was just not working for me anymore; the cut wasn’t right for me and I wasn’t a fan of the collar, but I know someone else will be, so I’m happy I donated it at Value Village. I also love the high-waisted flare denim I picked up too because I have been wanting a pair of dark wash flare denim for quite some time. I’m also loving the small saddle bag I picked up, it will be perfect for pairing with summer dresses. It’s not all clothing though; you can find many other lifestyle items too. For instance, I grabbed 5 books. The books, funnily enough, describe how you can be savvier with your money and still look chic, Also, I love the fact that if you buy 4 books you can get the 5th for free – yes! It’s always so refreshing to update your wardrobe and such a good feeling when you can donate your preloved pieces; Value Village is definitely a place to go to when you need to get inspired and have some fun.Value Village is more than your favourite thrift store – they also support non-profit organizations like Canadian Diabetes Association and Developmental Disabilities Association, among others, in your community.
