With Summer well on its way and the weather starting to spike, what better way to refresh yourself than with a cool cocktail? Clamato is always my drink of choice, ever since I was young, it’s been my go-to. I think it’s because it’s also my family’s drink of choice. I’m spicing things up this year with a delicious Michelada, which funnily enough, my Dad introduced me to. Clamato is, of course, the perfect match for my Michelada! I’m taking our regular ‘beer and clam’ and turning the heat on with some added ingredients. I love adding a bit of spice to my Clamato, so these are the perfect summer drinks, plus, they’re super simple to make. Read on for how to make a yummy Michelada and which foods to pair it with.
I love going to the beach when it starts getting warmer out because my family and I live close to the beach, we often take our adventures there. Because my family and I are all so busy with our own crazy schedules, we don’t always get the chance to hang out all together. This time, we’re making an effort to celebrate the beginning of a beautiful summer season. We like to do this every year when the weather starts getting nicer. We’re taking our Micheladas, our delicious cheese sticks for our food pairing and we’re ringing in National Michelada Day the best way we know how.
We chose cheese sticks and created a delicious corn salad and zesty cilantro lime sauce which paired perfectly with our Micheladas. The cheesy pairing brought out the zesty lime in a very complementary way. Not to mention, this was so simple to whip up because you don’t need that many ingredients. Also, I like to eat fresh food when going to the beach, and salads are always a hot topic in my household, especially when paired with tasty and savoury cheese sticks.
Here’s what you’ll need for the recipes:
Michelada recipe:
Clamato
Your favourite beer
½ cup ice
3-4 splashes of your favourite hot sauce
2 splashes of English sauce
Juice of 1 lime
Salt for the rim
To start, rim the glasses with salt. Add the fresh squeezed juice of 1 lime. Next, add your favourite beer (I used 1 can each for each Michelada), then add your Clamato. Top with 3-4 splashes of your favourite hot sauce, 2 splashes of English sauce and voila!
These drinks are flavourful and a huge crowd pleaser, especially on a warm day at the beach.
I love easy recipes that you can whip up for your family in a jiffy. This corn salsa and zesty cilantro lime sauce are delicious and perfect for sharing, and always on high demand from my family.

Now that looks like a refreshing drink. I normally find Clamato too salty but diluted with beer and spices should be very nice.

I’ve lived in Mexico for a few months, but have never heard of Michelada. And I’ve never tried beer with Clamato juice either. But there is always a first time for everything. Will have to try it out this weekend. Thank you for sharing 🙂

While I was pregnant ALL I craved was Mott’s Clamato juice!! Though a Canadian Caesar is my favourite mixed drink so I guess it makes sense! I will definitely have to try this twist on it! xx
