To me, outerwear is super important, especially in the winter. It can make or break your outfit, in my opinion. Continue reading for the type of outerwear that I think should be invested in to make all of your outfits look good.
Invest in fit
Because I err on the side of shorter, it’s hard for me to find a coat that isn’t too long. This maroon coat was the perfect length. Even when I wore sneakers with it. It makes you look pulled together even if you have jeans and a tee on underneath.
Invest in colour
If you like neutrals like me, opt for a camel coloured coat (I wore this one on my latest Instagrams and received so many compliments!). You could even change things up and grab a maroon one like this one I’m styling. Even though I love black, it’s not always the easiest for me to get away with because of my fur baby. Cream is another gorgeous neutral which isn’t utilized enough in the winter.
Invest in quality
A coat is the one piece of clothing I am okay with spending more on. You can always tell when a coat is good quality or not, and I’ve definitely had some blunders when it comes to online ordering of coats. Not to mention have had to deal with ripped pockets and that’s just not fun.

I really like this color! Certain colors – especially black – are definitely not great with my dog. She sheds all the time! LOL

Oh, I agree! When it’s really cold though, I like to layer it with another coat on top!
I need a new winter jacket. Mine is old and I just recently ripped the one side and pocket when it got snagged on something. 🙁 Now I know how to purchase a new one.
