On Tuesday July 30th, I attended the semi-annual tradeshow bringing Canada’s top lifestyle, fashion, action sports brands and retailers together called the KNOWSHOW. “Each January and August wholesalers of selected brands and their reps premier new products to the nations best retailers and media during a three day show held at the Vancouver Convention Centre.”
It was a fantastic experience, so much to look at and to be enthralled about. I have a few photos from the space below, and a more in depth look at one of my favorite brands there.. Roxy in an upcoming post.
Many magazines were available for grabs such as Surfer mag, Canada Snowboarding mag, Transworld Business, etc
What the inside of the tradeshow looked like.
The Brands:
Reef.
Roxy Pop Surf collection (more details on next post)
Sitka.
Orb clothing.
Volcom.
Burton.
Dakine.
Element.
At this season’s KNOWSHOW, there were many colours, prints and patterns used that were similar to this season’s delivery. There were geometrics, Aztec prints, with an inspiration of Mara Hoffman.
With Element, they had a wooden booth, that matched their overall brand’s aesthetic in a great way. With their natural hues, and wooden textures, they made their booth appeal to their brands image of nature and outdoorsy theme. The wooden panels, and benches made their booth appear like it was in a cabin like scenery. Sitka and Ten Tree had a similar appeal as well, with their use of trees and natural hues of browns and greens.
The brands appealed to their lifestyle and images, and that’s what is always fun about the KNOWSHOW. This tradeshow is in no way boring, and I love how each and every brand makes themselves unique and distinctive.
The atmosphere of the trade show was very interesting as it wasn’t too serious and you could tell people were really enjoying themselves, whether it was the media, buyers or sales reps, they looked like they truly wanted to be there. The vibe was casual, laid back and professional all in one. The atmosphere was busy, with many meetings going on around you, many people bustling around to get their meetings under way.
The fashion focus of the trade show was business casual, ‘hipster with a chic, professional appeal.’
Summery ensembles were worn, with professional pieces adorned such as blazers, heels and blouses.
My overall thoughts about this trade show was how cool it was to see how much thought and effort went into it. Every sales rep, volunteer, buyer, and employee all came together to produce an exciting and significant week of work and fun. This truly makes me so happy and proud to be apart of the amazing fashion industry, and really makes me want to be apart of the buying or selling aspect of things.
I see so many everyday people sport these looks and brands, so to see how much effort people put into making an amazing collection truly astounds me. It’s interesting to see how each and every person makes these brands their own and cultivates them into their own style personalities.
“Hipster but chic.”
“Comfy but cute.”
Amazing all around experience, organized event, helpful staff, pleasant employees. Great PR, and awesome marketing. Exclusive, but not too exclusive, welcoming, inviting and exciting atmosphere.
Thank you KNOWSHOW for having me!
