GUEST POST BY BLOGGER NICOLE OF CHANGE AND DRESS With every change of season comes a change in wardrobe, and I believe that is what’s the most exciting part about transitioning seasons. In the wake of fall to winter, I’ve found that my shopping gears have started spinning and alerting me of what items I must have for the upcoming chill. The most prominent trend for this winter is comfy cozy chic—the three c’s! To say that I am ecstatic would be an understatement. Who wouldn’t love the idea of manipulating your most comfortable clothes into trendy outfits? The most important thing to invest in this winter is oversize sweaters—we’re talking chunky cable knits, or lounge-worthy merino wools. You’ll come to find that these are the easiest tops to style because all it takes it a great bottom piece and fabulous statement necklace to create a complete look. My go-to for a baggy sweater is a skater skirt paired with knee high socks. Because you’re wearing something that is very menswear inspired on your top, you want to make your bottom as feminine as possible—it also helps that skater skirts, as well as knee high socks are right on trend for this winter. To add a little extra femininity to your look, wear a pair of ankle booties! This winter, I’m lusting over a soft bone colored pair in suede, preferably. It wouldn’t be the winter if we didn’t have to find a killer coat and the right warm accessories to pair with it! Working in the women’s outerwear industry has opened my eyes to take those trends when they were something I never cared much for. I always thought a jacket was a jacket, but I was so wrong! It’s the one piece that can truly tie an entire outfit together. I can’t get over how incredible blanket coats are—they’re the epitome of comfy chic. I especially love the idea of having one in a muted plaid to really dress up a winter look. What goes best with a blanket coat is a faux fur scarf. It really adds a sense of elegance to your outfit, which everyone needs now and then throughout the cold winter days.Aside from clothes, some more staples that every woman’s needs for the winter are red lipstick and sparkling nail polish. With all of the holiday parties you’ll be attending with friends, co-workers and family, you’ll find that these are two absolute necessities to survive! A statement clutch will come in handy for all your party looks too! Try to keep it neutral in color so that it can be versatile. Lastly, I think it’s necessary to have fun holiday-inspired pieces around your house to keep you cheerful throughout the winter months. Sometimes, we find ourselves a little groggy because of the weather, or stressed out because you have so much going on throughout the holidays, so it’s important to have things around you to make you smile, and what better to do that than some wall art that reminds you, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year?”
