I had an amazing time at Whistler’s annual WSSF (World Ski and Snowboard Festival) last weekend. It was so epic, amazing (free) concerts, events and of course the plethora of activities to partake in is always grounds for a good time.
Where to stay: The Westin Resort and Spa
I had the pleasure of staying at The Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler and thought it was a dream. Not only is the location absolutely perfect. (I’m talking minutes away from the gondola and centre of the festival action) but the rooms are beautiful. We had a view of the gondolas and the mountains. I mean can you get any more ski resort than that?
Where to eat:
Trying out the newest and best restos in Whistler was a treat too. Basalt Wine + Salumeria is perfect for a refreshing salad and one of the best patios in the village. Bar Oso has the most amazing cocktails (you have to try the Powder Day cocktail for a refreshing ginger infused drink!) and for appies, the albacore tuna and prawns are definite go-tos. Whistler boasts many new eateries to try, but the classics are good too, including the Longhorn Saloon and Grill and The Grill & Vine within The Westin, a great choice for grabbing one of the best tomato + Mozza sandwiches around and exploring the village.
What to do:
The WSSF event is all about having a good time with a mixture of culture, arts and sweet parties hosted by Corona. The Corona Sunsets party on top of the mountain was seriously a highlight for me this season. I mean partying on top of the mountain with a beyond beautiful view of the sunset was pretty darn rewarding. Not to mention, the great performances they had and the decor were on point. (Lounge chairs were available to relax on and heaters were provided for warmth.) This party was a seriously good time. Want something a bit more culture involved? Checking out the art shows and fashion shows is a good idea. There is some wicked talent in Whistler and all over the world. It’s amazing to see it all in one place. Pretty impressive.
Of course, what’s Whistler without a bit of fun on the slopes? This season has been one of the best around for snowboarding + skiing aficionados, both Whistler mountain and Whistler Blackcomb boast some of the fluffiest, fresh-powder runs in all of the provinces. If you haven’t been up for a spring ski, I highly recommend it as its an experience like no other.
