I don’t want this post to be too cliche, but I really want you guys to learn something from it. That’s why I decided to put together some wellness resolutions I have for the year ahead.
2016 was the most amazing year yet, but it was also most definitely the busiest. I felt that I didn’t give my body the care it deserved. Every night, I would come home late after working at the office all day and going to events at night. Therefore, I was super tired and didn’t feel like cooking. Okay, it’s not so bad every once in a while, right? But when push came to shove, I was doing it more and more. It made me realize how much I wasn’t taking care of myself. Something clicked in my mind at the end of 2016 and I wanted 2017 to be a year of purpose.
Cooking
I think it’s very important to pay attention to what goes into your body, ever since I took to cooking more homemade meals in the kitchen I’ve felt so much better. I have way more energy and I don’t feel sluggish because I overate. I’m really into the Oh She Glows cookbooks which you can get at Indigo Chapters. They have some pretty killer recipes, I tried the Classic Hummus recipe and it was delicious. It was my first time making this and definitely not my last. I included this delicious hummus in my healthy sandwich recipe. Because I am a vegetarian (I eat seafood from time to time!) I have to make sure my meals are full of protein and that’s where consuming chickpeas come into play. A huge part of wellness is eating healthy foods and paying attention to what you’re consuming.
Reading
I’m also really trying to make time for the things that make me feel good, for instance, reading is a huge part of my daily routine. I always make sure I have at least a book and a magazine in my tote before heading off on my day. People might not realize it but reading is a huge part of wellness and it’s important to step away from technology. I’m trying to read fiction as much as I can to escape from everyday life. Ever since I paid more attention to what I was reading, I have been a lot happier. I love nonfiction books don’t get me wrong. However, when you spend all day at the computer and on your phone, it’s nice to unplug. I like to read something funny, silly and interesting.
Some books I can’t wait to get into are:
Goop Clean Beauty by the editors of Goop. I can’t wait to read this. It’s definitely going to get me on the right track to living a successful (and mindful) life this year.
I also can’t wait to check out Faithful by Alice Hoffman. It looks really interesting and the book cover is beautiful! These titles can be found at Indigo Chapters along with tons more great reads.
Hydrating
Another resolution of mine is to drink more water. I know everyone says it, but I really need to focus on this. I’m consuming just a tad too much coffee and not enough water. I absolutely love drinking from my Swell bottle. It keeps your water extremely cold and can even keep it hot too. I also love how you can get a variety of designs. I know if I keep my bottle close to my desk I will definitely meet my goals. Not only is it healthy for you to drink water, but it helps give your skin a healthy complexion and that’s definitely part of wellness.
Exercising
Of course, what’s New Year’s resolutions without some fitness goals, right? I really want to make sure I make time for getting out there and exercising this year. To be honest, I did not do enough last year and I want to make it more of a priority. I always feel so much better after a workout.
There are so many products you can find at Indigo Chapters right now to help get your year off on the right track, pick up a gym bag, a Swell bottle, a couple good reads and get out there.

I am always so bad at drinking water! I always have a full water bottle size glass of water with me all day and I barely ever manage to finish it all! I don’t know what I can do to encourage me further. Maybe I need to get one of those hats that dispense fluids and wear it on my head lol! Killer bod babe!
