With the summer basically here, that means time is of the essence to get your patio sorted. There’s nothing like sipping on cold drinks with good company and good food to launch the start of the summer, right? Read on for my 5 tips on how to amp up your patio for the warm weather.
1.Lighting is Everything
Pick up some pretty lights and spread them overhead. This creates a relaxing ambiance and doesn’t cost too much, as you can simply pick up a string of twinkle lights. If you want, add some lanterns too, for additional light.

2. Lay Down a Rug
This is such an easy way to give your space the added texture and comfort it needs. Create that ‘wow’ factor by choosing a rug that has complementary colours used in the surrounding area. An outdoor rug also makes the space more comfortable and inviting.

3. Get an Outdoor Gas Grill
If you don’t already know why you need to invest in an outdoor gas grill, then let me set you straight. These are super convenient, fast, reliable and easy to use if you’re a grilling beginner, like me. Choosing which gas grill to get can be confusing, thankfully, this website breaks it down and even gives you their top 5. No more guessing games.

4. Pick Up Pretty Plates
It makes such a difference when you have a stylish table to present your delicious food on. Graphic dishes are all the rage right now, so I would definitely pick some up in a variety of prints because matching is so yesterday. I love going for neutral colours to create the perfect backdrop for vibrant summer bites.

5. Grab Some Planters
Last but not least, bring some more life to the party by picking up some planters. It’s a great way to add the right amount of greenery to your space.

What’s better than summer and dining on the patio. Sigh. Love it. A friend called last night to advise that the new lights on her patio are waiting for my inspection…and an evening meal. I’ll tell her your site approves her design instincts. What’s in the bowl? Tomato basil soup? Looks delicious! I’ll be right over! 🙂

Great tips. I have the world’s blackest thumb so the planters may be a problem. I don’t know why gas grills intimidate me. I’m a charcoal girl I guess. I could use a rug though to brighten up the place!
