I don’t know about you guys, but my skin has been so sensitive lately. I know it’s due to the weather change, so today I’m excited to be sharing 5 winter skincare survival tips you need to focus on now.
Every winter, my skin goes through a never-ending cycle of dry lips, cracked elbows (ew) and itchy underarms. It’s something I basically felt I had to succumb to until I decided to dig deeper on how to prevent these winter skin mishaps.
As the weather changes over from hot and humid to cold and dry, your skin may feel like it needs a refresh. Fall and winter are the perfect time to repair damage from the summer months and guard against dry skin and other cold-weather epidermal enemies. As we head into the cooler months, reboot your skincare routine with these simple, but high-impact tips from Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba.
Lay off the intense exfoliation:
Over-exfoliating can strip the skin of its essential oils, leading to breakouts in the dryer, colder months. A misconception is that rubbing off dead skin cells daily will improve skin when it actually can dehydrate it.
Care for your underarms:
Underarm skin is sensitive and an area that shouldn’t be overlooked. Textures and fabrics in sweaters, undergarments and t-shirts can irritate the skin. Underneath all those layers, you’ll need a product that keeps you hydrated and protected. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant is formulated with moisturizers to help alleviate irritation and leave you with softer and smoother underarms.
Get Your Sunglasses Out:
This may sound strange, but sunglasses in the winter are a must for me. If you live in sunnier climates, you already probably do this. But if your area gets lots of snow, it’s important to keep the shades on because snow is bright and you want to ensure you’re not wrecking your eyes even though it’s the winter. Also, keep in mind the skin around your eyes is very sensitive, so anything you can do to protect it is worthwhile.
Protect those Lips:
Chapped lips, in general, is not fun, but chapped lips in the winter is the worst. It’s best to moisturize your lips regularly with a lip balm. Look for ingredients like colloidal oatmeal and cold-pressed antioxidant-rich fruit seed oil which helps rejuvenate lips by providing long-lasting protection and moisture.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate:
Drinking plenty of water in the winter is crucial to make sure your skin stays as hydrated as possible. Add some lemon or lime slices for added flavor.
Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection, plus added skin care benefits for softer, smoother underarms. I really love how soft it feels on my underarms and the variety of scents available is great too. You can switch it up all the time. It somehow feels moisturizing to me too, it’s a very smooth antiperspirant if that makes sense. It definitely works on keeping odor at bay. And I love how you don’t get any antiperspirant residue on your clothes afterward. Check out Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant online here!
