Between Covid and the cold winter days, I am trying to find joy in the small things, especially while travel is mostly out of the picture at the moment. Thankfully, there are tons of ways to get out of a winter slump such as watching a good movie or curling up with a good read. Continue reading for a few ways on how to get out of a winter slump.
1. Bundle up
I don’t know about you guys, but I am always cold and this winter has been especially colder. I always feel much better about the constant rain and clouds when I can bundle up in my favourite cozy sweaters, work from home with my heated blanket (such a game-changer) and have fun styling winter fashion looks.
2. Eat healthy
It might be because it’s January and resolutions are everywhere I look, but I am enjoying eating healthier these days, which happen to make me feel better too. I have been saying no to sugary treats and when I feel like I need a snack, I opt for an apple or orange instead. Of course, I like to treat myself every now and again but I think it’s important to maintain a healthy balanced diet that consists of grains, fruit, vegetables, legumes, and nuts. Plus, eating healthy is good for decreasing your stress levels, it’s a win-win.
3. Go to the movies
Now with Covid settling down a bit, going to the movies is a thing again (yay!). It’s so nice to have something to look forward to on the weekends after a long week and it’s a wonderful way to unplug from technology. Plus, going to the movies is such a wonderful winter activity, especially since you can escape from the rain. With that said, I am thrilled that the bestselling novel by Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love is coming to theatres this week, on January 21st. I have been so excited to watch this movie ever since I watched the trailer, such a treat. You can buy tickets here.
Based on the bestselling novel by Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love is a powerful story of relentless love and perseverance as a young couple’s relationship clashes with the harsh realities of the California Gold Rush of 1850. It is a life-changing story of the power of unconditional and all-consuming love. Coming to theatres January 21, 2022! I am also thrilled to be giving away a Redeeming Love gift set which includes one plush rose coloured blanket, one candle and one Redeeming Love Novel. Enter to win here.
4. Find a good book
I have said this before, but there is something so relaxing about reading a good book, especially if it’s a good old-fashioned hardcover or paperback. There is just something so nostalgic about reading and flipping through the pages of your favourite novel and not to mention, giving your eyes a break from the blue-light exposure. In fact, I cannot wait to get my hands on the Redeeming Love novel. Reading in the winter just feels so right, wouldn’t you agree?
5. Get a good night’s sleep
This may sound so simple, but it really is a highly effective way to get out of a winter slump. Sleeping is powerful and because of the shorter daylight hours, you might feel like you are sleeping more, which is okay. Getting a good night’s sleep boosts your immune system and can help reduce stress. Check out the blog post here for tips on how to get a better night’s sleep.
