I’ve always been a huge fan of Roots, they’re so quintessential Canadian and truly offer the warmest clothes to get you through the cold Canadian months. I’m super excited to share their wonderful new campaign called the #BeNice campaign. Nice isn’t just an adjective, it’s a testimony to what this amazing country stands for.
Canadians are known for being ‘too nice’ and for saying sorry multiple times throughout the day (one time I even caught my sister saying sorry to a chair because she hit it with her knee lol). Why this country is so special and unique is because of what it has accomplished. From Canada’s first gay marriage, to Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, to Newfoundland’s response to 911, to the recent welcoming of Syrian refugees.
To honour Roots commitment to #BeNice, Roots has created the nice™ Button set ($3.00 a piece) with 100% of profits benefiting WE’s Indigenous Youth Empowerment Programming. If you want to grab your own button, they’re available online and in-stores across Canada. I’m definitely going to be walking around sporting my button in the next few months. With that, I encourage all of my wonderful readers to #BeNice, you can simply start by giving an unexpected (but much welcomed) compliment, lend a hand, and just continue on making this country an even greater place to live.
“From now until the big day on July 1, 2017, the Roots #BeNice campaign continues! A series of public-facing events, both online and in-store, will celebrate the very best of our home and native land. The Roots Search for Canada’s Nicest Person, the nice Fundraising Program, the Roots Canada 150 Tour featuring our nice Pop-Up Shop, and the nice Roots Artspace will each encourage Canadians from coast-to-coast to #BeNice.”To be a part of this campaign with me, I encourage you to take a selfie with your nice button and help share the message of nice with Roots hashtag #BeNice and celebrate Canada 150 with pride. Oh, Canada! Also, side note (but important note), I’m so excited to be one of the first to try out these amazing sneakers from Skye Footwear. I’m especially excited because this is a Vancouver based company and they’re fresh off the heels of a successful kickstarter campaign. These sneakers were founded based on the promise of offering comfortable and stylish unisex designs that work with busy, active lifestyles (job well done, I love how chic and comfortable they are!).Did you know that these shoes have insoles and outsoles that are biodegradable? So cool. I’ve recently started watching Bill Nye’s Save the World Netflix series (yes, I know, I’m an adult and seriously love that guy), so I feel I’m doing my part in helping the environment by wearing these sneaks. See Bill, even fashion bloggers can save the world too, hah. (jk) **All jokes aside, I hope to do my part as much as I can**.Interested in grabbing your own pair of Vancouver-based kicks? Check out their website here.I’m also wearing a new nailpolish line that I’ve recently discovered called Londontown USA, these nail polishes are amazing because they work to restore moisture back to your nails and they restore any nail damage. This line is all natural and it’s a beautifully holistic approach to getting the strength back in your nails, besides, they make the cutest colours. Check them out here. And because you just can’t get any more Canadian, I had a few geese friends show up my photo shoot.
