Whether you’re heading to New York City for upcoming New York Fashion Week (NYFW) or you’re going there for a whirlwind weekend, this is the guide for you. New York City is an amazing place, but it can get quite overwhelming at times. I was there last September for just a few days, suffice it to say, we packed in a lot which was great. Continue reading for my hot spots to hit if you’re in a hurry.
Where to stay: InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel
This was a gorgeous hotel, it’s where sophistication meets old town glamour. It’s definitely a classic hotel, and if you’re in the mood to really get a feel for what old New York was like, I would recommend staying here. The concierge was also very helpful as we didn’t really know where we were going haha.
What to do:
Central Park
This is a famous park, and for good reason. It’s such a beautiful little hideaway when you want to escape from the busy city. I would recommend going earlier in the day as it gets busy around lunchtime as the locals like to enjoy their breaks there. It’s so lush and you really can’t get over how magical it is to have a beautiful park that close to such a busy concrete jungle.
Top of the Rock
This is a super popular spot, it was my first time going and I would highly recommend it. Not only can you see the entire skyline from above on the top of the rock, but you can even enjoy a bit of history before heading outside. What I really liked about this particular place is it’s not super windy at the top like it is at the Empire State Building. I even got to shoot a fun campaign there too, check this post out here.
Where to eat:
This vegan spot is a fave amongst locals and tourists alike. It was super busy the day we went for lunch, I would recommend going earlier in the day if you can. The food is delicious and I plan on going back because I never did get that vegan cupcake haha. Also, it’s very Instagram worthy.
Unfortunately, we didn’t time this right because we had just eaten at Eat by Chloe, but they have the cutest cafe. I can’t vouch for the food, although I’m sure it’s amazing, but their lattes were delicious. Also, the decor is true to what you see on Instagram. So cute and once again, very Instagram worthy.
We actually didn’t have time to stop by here, but it’s high on the list. They serve the cutest matcha drinks and of course, have the most adorable and Instagram friendly decor and vibes.
Where to drink: The Gin Parlour, Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel
I feel very proud to say that this is where I first figured out I do in fact like gin. I was never a gin gal before because I always felt it was too strong. To be honest, I’m definitely a dry drink kind of woman. Thankfully, the experts at The Gin Parlour at the hotel just so happened to introduce me to some dry gins and now I’m a fan. This bar actually serves 88 (!) premium gins in addition to traditional favourites. Crazy, right? Also, the bartenders are super eduated on all things gin and it makes for quite an interesting intro to the spirit.
If you’re looking to plan a trip definitely keep NYC in mind as there is so much to do & see!
If you want an alternative to Top of the Rock, check out One World Observatory which is the heart of downtown Manhatten and boasts views of the most iconic sights in New York City.

Great photos! I’ve been to NYC a few times, but honestly, I’ve never done a ton of the tourist things so that would be kind of fun to do the next time. I really want to go back soon!
