Winter has been around for far too long, and I’m so over these dreary cold weekends at home. Thankfully, there are tons of ways to get out of a winter slump. You just have to think about it a little which is where I can (hopefully) help out. Continue reading for ways on how to make the most out of winter.
Try a New Recipe
I love finding new recipes online (read: Pinterest) and trying them out. It’s always nice to get a bit creative and change things up. In fact, part of my New Year’s resolutions was to eat healthier and be more mindful of what I’m eating. This means trying new recipes, and switching it up, not always sticking with the same comfort foods all the time.
I especially find when you introduce new ingredients into your meals, it awakens your palate. Additionally, it makes flavours stand out so much more.
Make Movie Nights a Thing
I feel like movie nights are such a treat these days because schedules are busier than ever. It’s so important to make time with your loved ones. Not only that, but it’s a great way to unplug from technology. Especially since you’re not allowed to be on your cell phone at the movie theater. So, with all the great movies out there, which movie should you see?
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to watch an advanced screening of the film I Still Believe. I had been wanting to see this movie for quite some time ever since I watched the trailer. The movie is based on a true story and was very inspiring.
It inspired me because no matter what you’re going through, there is always hope if you have faith. It really helped me realize that everyone is fighting their own kind of battle. And, if you can be a positive influence, a light in their life, maybe you can help someone else.
This movie is a definite tear-jerker, and it has such a powerful message. Not only is the message strong throughout but the accompanied singing is incredible. You can definitely feel the emotions of the characters come through with their songs.
Without giving too much away (don’t worry, there are no spoilers here). The movie is based on the true story of Jeremy Camp’s life. Jeremy Camp’s love of his life, Melissa, falls ill with cancer and they both have to figure out how to battle it. The story is raw and told with such grace. Shania Twain plays Jeremy’s mum, and Jeremy is played by KJ Apa. He is known for his role in Riverdale (one of my favourite TV shows).

I definitely recommend watching this movie, just make sure to bring some tissues along.
Self-Care O’Clock
Self-care is so important and it could mean totally different things to anyone. I feel like weekends are the perfect time for self-care. Whatever your go-to form of self-care, I encourage you to make time for it. Even if it’s just adding another step into your skincare routine. My tip? Choose one weekend night and one form of self-care that you can easily implement. My go-to? A face mask, always.
What are you doing to make the most out of your weekends?
