I recently had the opportunity to try Liquid Yoga for the first time. This was held at the beautiful Westin Bayshore property. Vancouver is known for its abundance of yoga classes on offer, but this is the first of its kind being offered at one of Vancouver’s most prominent ocean view hotels.
Liquid Yoga is located at the hotel’s revamped “H2(O)” pool on top of floating Aquamats. These classes are led by Vancouver yogis, Kristy Wright Schell and Emma Jessica Collins from Stand Up Paddle Vancouver.
What I love about this class is its fit for yogis of all experience levels, which was great for me seeing as I am a beginner. The only requirement is that you have to know how to swim, easy feat for a beautiful experience. The 60-minute sessions promise to stretch each practitioner’s body and awaken the mind, which they definitely did.
I loved the experience so much because of how it’s surrounded by the natural environment. The Westin Bayshore is definitely the perfect spot to try this out because of its natural beauty with the mountains and ocean around. During my session, there were individuals swimming in the pool which I thought was a nice touch because of the calming sounds of the waves.
This was a very relaxing experience and I felt in tune with my body and mind. I’ve been trying to get more into yoga and meditation lately, so this was the perfect way to begin that journey.
I truly believe this is a once in a lifetime experience and I would definitely do this again.
Liquid Yoga classes are still being offered daily (except Mondays; and weather dependent) through Saturday, September 30th. After September 30th, Liquid Yoga will be offered at the Westin Bayshore’s indoor pool which will have more information available soon. Spots are $30 and must be reserved ahead of time online. Six seats are available in each class. For more information, visit the Westin Bayshore’s website.
After our Liquid Yoga experience, we went for a delicious brunch at the new eatery, H2 Rotisserie & Bar. This is a beautiful modern and bright space set along the unrivaled location of Vancouver’s iconic seawall. Situated at the edge of Stanley Park, overlooking Coal Harbour and the North Shore mountains, this cannot be beat.
You can choose from a standard breakfast menu, buffet or brunch on the weekends at H2. We tried the buffet option and it was incredible, so much variety. A few of the items that stood out to me on the menu were the dim sum (yes, that’s offered for the buffet!), yogurt parfait DIY bar and the omelet DIY bar.
For brunch, they even have buddha bowls which you can build up yourself with the chosen ingredients. I’m definitely coming back for one of those.
Thank you to The Westin Bayshore for such an amazing experience.

Ooh how fun! I’ve never done Yoga. I feel like I’d fall off a lot.

That was just like me, but I’m shocked that I didn’t fall off! I’m sure if you tried it, you would like it!

Oooh this looks like fun! I did some Stand Up Paddleboarding yoga this summer on a lake near me. It’s definitely an extra challenge to work through the positions while staying afloat on a paddleboard, but opening your eyes and seeing an amazing view of nature after savasana is soooo worth it!
