With Winter (basically) here, it brings dry skin and dry lips along with it. Thankfully, there’s still time to perfect your winter routine to ensure a glowy, dewy just-had-a-facial complexion. And, you can get this all from the comfort of your own home. Continue reading for tips on how to beat dry skin (and lips) this winter.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating is a crucial step in my winter routine and part of how I beat dry skin. It’s super important to get rid of those dead skin cells asap. Truly nothing can make your skin softer than exfoliating. Not only do I exfoliate my face a few times a week, but I exfoliate my body too. I love using body scrubs, especially on those random pesky dry spots like your elbows. Exfoliating is key because no matter how much you moisturize, dry skin will stay dry without exfoliating.
Moisturize
That brings me to my next point, moisturize. I always moisturize all year round. However, I really kick it up a notch in the winter because that’s when everything gets drier. Moisturizing is a key step in my skin routine. And, I make sure to moisturize my face twice (AM and PM) as well as my body. There’s nothing worse than having dry skin in the winter because the cold weather just makes you stay dry.
Take Care of Your Lips
I don’t know about you guys, but I get extremely dry and chapped lips in the winter. Spoiler alert: it’s not cute. Thankfully, I’ve just discovered Burt’s Bee’s new Lip Butters from Ulta Beauty and they are heavenly. These Lip Butters are super luxe, and ultra-creamy while being 100% natural. I nabbed their 4 botanical flavors: Vanilla Clove, Orange Blossom & Pistachio, Rosemary & Lemon and my personal favorite, Lavender & Honey. I like to use the Rosemary & Lemon flavor early in the morning as the fresh scent helps wake me up. Then, I use the Orange Blossom & Pistachio around lunchtime. To get me through the afternoon slump, I use Vanilla Clove. Lastly, I use the Lavender & Honey to wind down with at night because lavender is my go-to sleep remedy.
I’ve been really trying to incorporate more natural beauty products into my routine lately. I just don’t want the harmful ingredients on (and in) my body. This has allowed me to pay more attention to the products I’m buying. I’ve been trying to do a bit of research beforehand and make sure to thoroughly read the list of ingredients.
Not only that, but I’ve been really trying to be more mindful of my sustainability practices with my lifestyle. I’ve been making sure to eliminate drinking out of plastic bottles and using my reusable ones. Additionally, every time I get packages that come with lots of wrapping, I always make sure to reuse what I can. For example, tissue paper is something I always reuse as it’s perfect for gift wrapping (read: Christmas shopping is also almost on the way). In particular, Burt’s Bees sources all of their Shea Butter responsibly. Also, the tins are fully recyclable—yay!
Honestly, these Lip Butters are amazing—they are super lightweight yet provide all-day moisturization. I also like the subtle soft sheen they leave on my lips. Plus, they’re never greasy or sticky. (There’s nothing worse, am I right? Cue me getting my hair stuck on my glossed-up lips in high school, not cute). These tins are also easy-to-open and small enough to pack in your purse. Pick up your set of Lip Butters at Ulta Beauty this winter to beat dry lips.
Which botanical flavors of the Burt’s Bees Lip Butters would you choose?

I love Burt’s Bees! BEST lip balms! During the winter, my lips and face get sooo dry 🙁 I have to up my moisturizing game so much. One product that has really helped me with dry skin is Albolene’s makeup remover/cleanser. If I don’t use it before washing my face, my skin gets so dry and itchy.

I always moisturize, too, but definitely need to do more in winter. It’s been getting colder so I’m doing some of the same things.

Ugh my skin is the worst in the winter! I exfoliate and moisturize like crazy. I also use a ton of lip balm in the winter and love Burt’s Bees but I’ve never tried their lip butter. I should try it!
